Admin Item Editing

Auction admins can edit items on behalf of item owners, but only when the owner has explicitly allowed it. This feature helps admins assist with item management while respecting owner control.

How It Works

The admin editing feature is an opt-in system. Item owners must enable admin editing for each item they want admins to be able to modify.

For Item Owners

When creating or editing an item, you’ll see an “Admin Editing” section with a toggle:

Allow auction admins to edit this item - When enabled, auction admins (and the auction owner) can edit your item’s details on your behalf.

Enabling Admin Editing for Multiple Items

To quickly enable admin editing for all your items at once:

1. Go to My Listings from the navigation bar
2. Click the Bulk Edit button
3. Select all items using the checkbox in the header row
4. In the toolbar, find the Admin Editable dropdown
5. Select Enable Admin Editing
6. Click Apply

This will allow auction admins to edit all your selected items. You can also use this method to disable admin editing for multiple items at once.

For Auction Owners

Auction owners can set a default value for new items in the auction settings:

1. Go to your auction’s Settings page
2. Find the Admin Editing Defaults section
3. Enable “Allow admins to edit new items by default”

When this is enabled, new items created in your auction will have admin editing turned on by default. Item owners can still opt out for individual items.

Auction Admin

If you’re an admin or owner of at least one auction, you’ll see an Auction Admin link in the navigation bar.

The Auction Admin allows you to:

• Select an auction from a dropdown
• View all items you have permission to edit
• Use bulk editing tools to update multiple items at once
• Quickly access auction settings

Which Items Can You Edit?

In the Auction Admin, you can edit:

• Items where the owner has enabled “Allow admin editing”
• Items you created yourself (regardless of the admin editing setting)

Bulk Editing

The Auction Admin includes the same bulk editing tools available on the My Listings page. You can:

• Select multiple items using checkboxes
• Apply changes to currency, starting bid, minimum increment
• Enable or disable discussions
• Toggle admin editing permission (only for items you own)

Tracking Changes

When an admin edits an item, the system tracks who made the last update. This helps maintain accountability and transparency.
