Notifications
Stay informed about auction activity with Auktivaâs notification system.
Notification Types
New Item Added
When a new item is added to an auction youâre a member of. Shows the item name, a preview of the description, and the itemâs image.
Outbid Notifications
When someone places a higher bid than yours.
Auction Ending Soon
When an auction youâre in is about to end.
Item Won
When an item you bid on ends and you won.
Item Lost
When an item you bid on ends and someone else won.
Accessing Notifications
Notification Bell
The bell icon in the top navigation shows:
- Red badge with unread count
- Click to open dropdown
- Recent notifications
Notification Dropdown
- Unread notifications are highlighted
- Click a notification to go to the item
- Click âMark all as readâ to clear
Real-Time Updates
Notifications update automatically:
- New notifications appear without refreshing
- Badge count updates in real-time
- Polling interval: every 30 seconds
You donât need to refresh the page to see new notifications.
Email Notifications
In addition to in-app notifications, Auktiva can send you email notifications for important events.
Email Types
- Welcome Email - Sent when you create your account
- Auction Invites - When someone invites you to an auction
- New Items - When items are added to auctions youâre in
- Outbid Alerts - When someone outbids you
Managing Email Preferences
You can control email notifications in Settings â Email Notifications:
- Go to Settings
- Find âEmail Notificationsâ section
- Toggle notifications on/off:
- New item notifications - Emails for new auction items
- Outbid notifications - Emails when youâre outbid
Disabling email notifications doesnât affect in-app notifications. Youâll still see the bell icon updates.
Best Practices
- Check notifications regularly during active auctions
- Pay attention to outbid notifications
- Watch for auction ending reminders
- Enable email notifications for auctions you care about
